Professor Mingdi Yan obtained her BS degree in Polymer Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1988. After receiving her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1994 from the University of Oregon, Professor Yan took a position at Ikonos Corporation where her focus was on developing chemical sensors. In 1998, Professor Yan joined the faculty of the Chemistry department at PSU, and has been an Associate Professor since 2004. She held a joint appointment at the Department of Electric and Computer Engineering at the Oregon Graduate Institute (1998-2004), and was a Guest Professor at the Department of Materials, ETH Zurich (2006-07). Professor Yan is a member of the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnology Institute (ONAMI). Her professional activities include serving as ad hoc member on NIH study section, as consultant for several private companies and national labs, and the member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Society of Molecular Imprinting.
