BioOdyssey Calligrapher Miniarrayer (Bio-Rad)

We use this microarray printer to generate microarrays to study molecular interactions and recognition.

Contact Angle Goniometer Model 250 (Ramé-hart)

The goniometer is used to measure the contact angle and surface tension of a solid surface, which reflects the surface energy of the material. We use it to monitor surface functionalization processes, and to study surface topography by measuring contact angle hysteresis.

LSE STOKES Ellipsometer (Gaertner Scientific)

Ellipsometry is an optical technique permitting us to measure the thickness of thin films up to 60,000 Å when the dielectric constant of the material is known.

Epi-Fluorescence Microscope - L2001A

This fluorescence microscope allows us to study fluorescence-labeled samples. It is equipped with UV, blue, and green excitation filter units.

Nanoscope III Atomic Force Microscope (Veeco)

This tapping mode AFM allows us to image, measure, and manipulate solid surfaces at nanometer resolution. We use it to image patterned surfaces, study surface morphology, and create polymer nanostructures.

Spin Coater P-6708 (Specialty Coating Systems)

The spin coater is used to prepare polymer thin films. The thickness and uniformity of the films can be controlled by the solution concentration, the rotation and acceleration speed.

SPRimager®II (GWC Technologies)

Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) is a label-free detection technique that allows the quantitative analysis of molecular interactions in real time. We use this instrument to study molecular recognition in situ in an array format.

Lambda 45 UV-Vis Spectrophotometer (Perkin Elmer)

We use the UV-vis spectrometer for routine compound characterization, and to study optical properties of nanomaterials.

Optical Microscope BMH (Olympus)

This optical microscope is used for sample visualization.
