Nucleic acids and biological information flow

This course is the third course in a three course series in biochemistry and is taught during Spring quarter. This course focuses on the biochemical aspects of biological information flow, including nucleotide biosynthesis, DNA replication, RNA transcription, and protein translation. Students must have completed Chem 490 and Chem 491 prior to enrolling in Chem 492. I will expect all students to be completely comfortable with the material from these prior two courses. Grades in Chem 492 is based on two midterm exams, one final, and five short writing assignments. You may receive graduate credit (Chem 592) if you complete 10-page report in addition to the other assignments in the course.
