Undergraduate Research

Undergradute doing research.Undergraduates often overlook the possibility of working with a faculty member on an individual basis doing research. The undergraduate research experience provides an opportunity for the student to work in a research laboratory on a scientific problem that will take them well beyond the scope of class and textbook instruction. Such an experience can be very rewarding and can provide invaluable skills for more advanced study or in the job market.

Students earn academic credit for undergraduate research by enrolling in Research (CH 401), or for especially strong students, by earning Chemistry Honors. Alternatively, students may earn an hourly wage in a research laboratory (through either straight salary or work-study) by arrangement with individual faculty members. However, academic credit and an hourly wage cannot be claimed for the same time commitment.

To obtain more information, please contact individual faculty members directly or the undergraduate advisors .
