Description of Services

User Operated Instrument Training: For each instrument, training sessions are available that will enable the individual to run their own sample analysis. This training is /required /before an investigator is allowed to analyze their own samples. Training includes general operation of the instrument, the creation of instrument methods, the capability to run samples and an introduction to data analysis. To schedule training please email (chem-ms@pdx.edu) or call 503.725.8733 on Wednesdays between 10am-4pm. During those times Dr DeBarber can also be found in Room 333, Science Building 2.

User Operated Instrument Fee: Those investigators that have successfully completed training on an instrument can request instrument time (see web calendar for instrument availability) by emailing a registration form to chem-ms@pdx.edu. The investigator must supply their own column and /pre-approved/ solvents and sample vials. If required, approved solvents and buffers available in the Facility can be used for a charge of $1 per 50mL, autosampler vials/caps are also available for a charge of $1, as well as inserters (if required) for a charge of $1. Overall charges reflect instrument time plus consumables.

MS sample analysis (mass accuracy < 5 ppm): Accurate mass analysis is provided by Facility staff for molecular formula determination. Samples received between 10am and noon every Wednesday (Science Building 2, Room 333) will be analyzed on the same day. Please inquire regarding other sample drop-off times.
